The Roads are Heavily Patrolled....

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I went to the RMV the other day for the first time in a long time to renew my license. I noticed that the RMV is now run by civilians and not the State Police as was the case before. I know an employee of the RMV and she said all those Troopers across the state are now out on the roads....and yes I have noticed. Route 2 is so heavily patrolled......I guess that's a way to deter us from speeding and make us save our gas!!

I had spinach pie last night, so I got plenty of gas

i've noticed the RI troopers have found themselves a couple of new hiding places along 95 also.

Posted by: Mustang5L5

I tought the RMV in MA always had civilians running it...at least ever since i started driving 10 years ago

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

police these days are using all kinds of dirty tactics to catch and deter speeders.

My favorite are the unmarked, untinted impala's I see all up and down rt 3 driven buy staties in street clothes.

Posted by: awwyea

Yep, and I heard from a reliable source that the MA Staties just took delivery of 15 or 20 new Dodge Journey's which are being put out on the road as unmarked cars as well.

The only way you can identify the unmarked cars now are by the antennas. If it has two, beware....

Posted by: MY-S281

Glad to see our Tax dollars are being spent wisely on important matters like capturing speeders with stealth tactics and laying in wait like dam predators.....

Its not like we need to keep the real criminals off the street and nor should we do something about all the illegal guns and real crime that occurs daily out there..

I can just see it at the end of the day when they fill out there daily reports and talking to their superiors...

" Hey Chief, I had a real productive day today.. Sorry I didnt get that guy that mugged and tried to rape an old lady the other day, and I couldn't fiind that dam guy that held up the Bank, oh ya and that guy stalking the kids at the playground must have slipped away when I wasnt looking, But I did get a couple of guys tooling down the highway doing 75 MPH in their Mustangs and wrote them a ticket....."

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

please, dont get me started on this. I have nothing against good cops..its the system thats at fault here.

I seriously believe the system is designed as a money making and very profitable buisness. If detering speeding was something they were serious about, all thats needed is a cop car sitting in the side of the high way. There is no need to spend tens of thousands of dollars on unmarked cars when a single marked one will get the job done.

ok im done ranting...sorry.

Yes, the cops in my town have been everywhere lately. It's hard to drive more than 3 miles without seeing blue lights flashing somewhere along the way. I know a lot of these guys and they are good cops. I can only assume they've been told that they need to produce the funds to fix the roads that got destroyed during this past winter.

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

Wanna talk about the money machine, You should of seen the City of Pawtucket until only a few years ago.. They patrolled this one street called Newport Ave 24/7 after they dropped the speed limit to 25MPH. They actually made the paper once for issuing a ticket to a guy on a bicycle.

They've finally backed off abit in the last few years.. But they had a grip on the street for over 10 years. Pullin over anyone at anytime.. Biggest BS I have ever seen when it came to the mony making machine. f them and thier quota's

Posted by: awwyea

I have no problem with them pulling over nitwits swerving in and out of traffic and being careless. But if you're cruising in the far left lane at 80mph with the flow of traffic, then let them be. As it is, most of the times, the Staties are running you out of that lane as it is, flying up on you with no lights on, easily going over 90 mph.

Posted by: MY-S281

I have no problems with someone thats driving like a meat head being pulled over and slapped with a big ticket either.. and I agree this isnt generally about the cops, they are following orders in most cases and like Ian said if you want to deter sit there in the OPEN and not hide behind a unmarked car and sit in hidden areas behind bushes, buildings, etc, just waiting to nab someone.. sometime things are so BACK ASSWARDS its no wonder our economy is such a mess

The biggest scam is that they rely on the ticket revenue for the upkeep and repairs of the roads, istn that what part of the ever increasing tax is on fuel and additionally in Ma. isnt that what part of the excise tax is for also..??

Just makes me wonder what the hell is going on lately because they certainly arent spending that TAX $$$ on the roads..

Ok Im done ranting..!!!

free tuition for illegals is where the money goes

Thanks Deval!

Bingo...and it works.

When i drive home down Rt3 there are two spots cops love to sit in the middle strip and run radar from. Sure as hell, every day even if the cops aren't there, people slow down right before they get to that area.

Just put one marked cruiser on a rotation and get people used to always seeing a cop there and you'll slow people down all the time

Funny story.

Driving to work one morning on 128, traffic is cruising at 80MPH. So i'm in the left lane in 5th gear doing 80-85MPH. All the sudden the car behind me moves over and there is a statie there doing 80-85 with me. Granted it's a packed highway, plenty of distance between cars and everyone is doing 80-85 as well.

So i just keep going. I had some balls lol! I drove 10 miles at 80MPH with a statie behind me. I came up on a curve and dropped to 75MPH for a second and the statie flashes his lights. I move over and he picks it up to 80 and passes me!!

I then get in behind him and continue driving 10 more miles doing 80 behind a statie before my exit came up!

Posted by: LILBLKSNAKE

What is Ian complaining about??? He never goes over 45mph

Posted by: Mustang5L5

And Ed never goes under 95

Posted by: cobradrivr

A mass state trooper got me last weekend coming home from ed day! He clocked me at 87mph, $200 ticket!! WTF I was gonna ask him if he was writing me a ticket to the troopers ball, so he would say....Troopers dont have balls! hahaha

I do that all the time. I'd think most troopers would rather see you driving with the flow of traffic then slam on your brakes to be at the limit. I'd say about 95% of the time when I see a cop, I'm doing well over the limit.

Unless he's running the 1/4 mile.

geez, I got pulled over by a disgruntled sarge that looked waaaayyy too old for his rank. anyway this Masshole state trooper pulled me over for passing him at 70mph. I had been doing 90 when I saw him get on the highway and slowed down to 65 then slowly crept up on him and moved to the fast lane. as soon as the front of my car was level with his rear bumper it must have taken me about 10 seconds to pass him. he pulls me over and gives me a lecture about how me being in the military, I should know how disrespectful it is to pass a cop. all he gave me was a warning though.

Actually, if you didn't chicken out of running me at ED DAY, I got a new best 104mph run. I swear I'm getting my 12.9 eventually.

I have 60's ranging from 1.88 (last ED DAY) all the way past 2.2+
I have 13.4- 14's on all different passes
I have mph's from 101-104mph now.

Once you and Kevin get your Turbo Turtles ready, we can all go up!!

pretty sad dude, I've got the same mods you do and i'm almost 10hp higher to the wheels (oh yeah, thats without the chip, my tune wasn't even on during Ed day lol) and my mph (without the chip) was at 105.5
my best on Ed Day was 13.8 with a best 60' of 2.1..............as soon as I can learn how to burnout properly, your 13.4 is history!!!

Posted by: dustindu4

get line locks, they are easy to install and a must have for racing.

and you need to have 60' time of 1.75-ish or less to make 12s. Heck I got a 12.9 with a busted posi doing a one wheel peel burnout. My 13.002 pass I had a 60' of like 1.79

Ed's car could probably do 12s if he could do everything right. Line locks would help.

Posted by: Mustang5L5

Let Dustin drive Ed's car....instant 12.9

learn how to do a burn out already, quite whinging about how you want 12's...if you wanted it that bad you'd have learned already

Ed what did your car dyno at?

I need you and Mike to research Line-Locks for 96-98 COBRA's. Everything I have found either says they can't use Line-Lock with the Bosche system or there is a hacked in line-lock.

Posted by: dustindu4

270 isn't going to cut it for 12s, you might get a 13.0 or 13.1 if all the stars are aligned. You need around 300 to break into 12s, at least with the 05s

05+ mustangs are 270/280 stock and they can do maybe a 13.4 with just a cai and tune. I think your car is a little lighter and you have drag radials so that's why you can get down to low 13s with 270/270

Posted by: dustindu4

Do you have pullies done?

what CAI do you have?

what octane tune do you have?

You have 4.30s so that helps, you just need to be able to launch at high rpm with full traction

96-98 COBRA's supposedly get nothing from pullies and they have charging problems.

WMS Velocity tube CAI

Tuned for 93

supposedly "nothing" my ass.........I've got a dyno sheet that says otherwise with the Steeda underdrives. yeah the car runs a little warmer with the w/p pulley and idle rpm doesn't do shit for the charging system, but I saw all kinds of mid-range gains and a few horses peak gain too. once my 93 tune is straight with the slightly higher idle rpm, the charging system should be fine. if not, I'll switch back to the stock alternator pulley.

Posted by: Jarhead46

Eds gonna gonna waste $150 for linelock so he can go up there spin the tires for a second and wonder why he cant launch for shit. Give me your car for a pass see if I can recreate me 13.2 pass when my car was NA.

you would probably drop 2 tenths using an aluminum driveshaft
