SPX awarded contract with Ford

SPX Corp. has landed a contract with Ford Motor Co. to write, translate and produce vehicle-owner manuals for markets in Asia Pacific and Africa.
The work, to be conducted by SPX's Service Solutions business in Australia, will support the centralization of owner guides across the regions.
The project is scheduled to begin in August. Financial terms weren't disclosed.
"We are undertaking this multiyear project to coordinate the content of owner guides in our many markets in this region," says Mark Cruse, technical support operations manager for Ford's customer-service operations in Asia Pacific and Africa. "This will help ensure consistency and synergy across multiple vehicle platforms and configurations, and will ultimately help our markets to provide top-quality information to vehicle owners.
Economic forecasts from industry sources predict 800,000 to 1 million Ford vehicles will be in demand in Asia Pacific and Africa markets over the next two years, with that number doubling by 2012.
SPX Service Solutions is based in Michigan. The company designs, manufactures and markets special-service tools, diagnostic equipment and technical information for vehicle servicing and maintenance.
Charlotte-based SPX (NYSE:SPW) markets flow technology, testing and measurement equipment, thermal equipment and services, and industrial products and services.
Michigan-based Ford (NYSE:F) designs, manufactures and services cars and trucks worldwide.
