I had an MGW shifter in the GT and the Cobra has a Pro 5.0. With the MGW, the GT "clicked" into gear. The Cobra's Pro50, while it was solidly in gear (no "gear bag" feel), it was definitely not as precise. I know they're totally different transmissions, but do you think they "feel" is due to the difference in the trannys? Or is it the difference between the MGW vs. Pro50? Posted by: masscobra03 I have a UPR shifter in my Cobra and it clicks into gear. I think it may just be due to the different transmissions. I drove John's Mach 1 and his GT and each car had it's own feel when shifting. If I was you, I would switch to an MGW. That's what I'm getting when I have some extra $ laying around. Probably has nothing to do with it, but it may be due to having an aftermarket clutch. Posted by: Mustang5L5 I'm used to driving my GT with the MGW and when I drove Jake's '03 Cobra 2 summers ago i noticed the same thing. I think it's more the MGW shifter Posted by: jmac72187 I think it is a combination of both. The GT and Mach, although they both have MGW's, feel different because they are different trannies. James' Cobra felt clicked into gear more than I am used to and it is obviously a T-56. I would say that it is most likely the shifter since James' tranny was pretty precise. You knew that it was in gear. Posted by: TorchRedSVT hey Jim...its about 80% shifter, 20% tranny. there is a reason why all cobra owners go with MGW, its the best shifter out there matched with the t-56, has a nice pattern and makes shifting idiot proof. I don't konw anything about the Pro 5.0 units as I had a tri-ax on my old GT and my current car the MGW. On Sunday if its nice and we have time maybe ill let you drive mine for you to get a feel for it. ( just means when you get yours I get to drive it, I have never driven a coupe, would like to check it out seriously though, you'll probably want to consider upgrading to the MGW, its worth it. Posted by: Mustang5L5 The 3650 tends to shift a little clunky as well in general. I don't know if mine clicks into gear as more as it smoothly clunks into gear Posted by: langod Ok -- Thanks guys. Thats kinda what I thought. I'm so used to the MGW on my GT that I was really surpised at the squishy shifter in the Cobra. I think that will be my first change. (Just like it was my first mod to the GT, too.) Ian, I won't be at Ed Day, but we'll have to trade cars for a quick cruise at some point. Posted by: TorchRedSVT Quote:
