Ok, I "adopted" a 97 V6 and am looking at spending a few $$,not supercharger money but some cash to get more speed out of the lil thing. Can anyone out there give me some ideas to add some horsepower that won't totally break the bank? Not looking to make a dragster just a fun streetcar. Thanks & am happy to be a new member. Jeff Also has anyone had luck with chips or programmers & or opions on them? Are superchips worth the money??? thanks Posted by: Xerxeese Hi Jeff ! You've come to the right place. Being a 97, you might want to consider a split port swap (heads and intakes) reletively speaking, its a good bang for the buck mod (should get you near 200 crank HP) As for chips.. dont bother. Handheld tuners work better, and a dyno tune would even be the best - but I would hold off on that until you have your other mods squared away. Something else to look at would be rear end gears and a loc rite (not the ford T-lock its the weak link in a 7.5 rear end) 3.73 gears or even 4.10 (depending on transmission type) would wake the car up a bit. Everything depends on your budget. I know a few v6's (not posting on this forum , however) that make in excess of 600 hp at the wheels. I intend on being one of them at some point *evil grin* Where are you located ? I may have some split port parts I will let go rather cheap later this spring.
