A slow drip that forms a small puddle directly below the fuel door side of the tank so it seems. I've been told that this is a common problem for my model Mustang. I have a friend who works in the service dept for a Ford dealership and he told me that 99% of the time it is just the rubber coupler that attaches the filler pipe to the tank that needs to be replaced. The part is only about $20.00. I was curious if anyone else has had this problem and if this fix corrected it. It only leaks a little bit and stops after I use less than an 1/8th of a tank of gas. If I park on an incline it tends to leak more so I believe that his assumption of the problem being the rubber coupler is accurate. Post up if you've had or heard of this problem yourselves. Thanks -Ruz Posted by: Mustang5L5 Common prob. Had it happen on the 5.0. $20 gasket and it's fixed. You will need to lower the tank down slightly as it's a little bit of a PITA to do it Posted by: EastCoast5.0 Yeap mine went after I did a fuel pump install. It would leak the same way yours does. It's pretty easy fix, although it's nice to have a buddy with you to help the drop the tank a bit to get clearence to pull out the filler tube. Posted by: EastCoast5.0 Dammit. You quick one. Posted by: badass98svt Very common, Dave. Should take about an hour total.
