Sad News .. The 5.0 is No More .. Need your Help

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

First off , I have to say the most important thing here tonight is that Johnny and Brock are fine, nobody got hurt.

The sad part.. We lost our dream car today and it's hitting us hard now that he realized he won't be going to ED day (Seriously, he said that comment to me tonight almost in tears).

Basically, the passenger side got wrapped around a tree/big stump after going off the road. I don't want to get into the details.. I'll let him tell you the details when he is ready..

I do need a favor though... I need links quickly to any mustang FOR SALE on the internet of comparable value that meets the criteria below.. This is so I can start the battle of getting what this car was worth. So post up in here anything you find....

  • 1989 LX Hatch ( Excellent condition ) ( If it's a GT that's fine too)
  • 20k Mileage ( If you find stuff under 50k or 100K post the link )
  • Selling for 7k - 8k .. (Or higher)
Thanks...

-Joe

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

Sorry to hear that, atleast everyone is OK!!! It definitly stinks this had to happen and I feel bad for Johnny.

I will start looking around and fine a few cars which are comparable for ya.
I'll post em up a little bit later.

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

Got the word.. It's totaled..

Posted by: dustindu4

shame

I knew a kid whose dad gave him a pristine 69 GTO as his first car when he got his license. That car got wrapped around a tree too

try to buy it back from the insurance company, you might get a lot for it if you part it out. That drivetrain is worth something to somebody being in the new condition its in providing it isnt damaged

Posted by: MY-S281

Sorry to hear the bad news...

Like everyone said atleast no one was hurt...

hope everything works out ....

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

I'm considering buying it back.. There are definately parts worth a bit to some people on the car that went undamaged. The Engine seems intact, but the radiator broke loose in the engine bay.

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

how much is the insurance company going to give you for it...do you konw how much it would cost to buy back?

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

No adjustor has contacted me yet... Probably today.

Posted by: Jarhead46

Damn that sucks, at least everyone was ok though.

Joe,

Can you save it at all ? What's damaged exactly ?

Posted by: dustindu4

even if it was fixed it would need a salvage title which cuts the value of the car in half

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

I just got off the phone with Ed who was down taking a look at the car.

It sounds like its a total scrap at this point. Hopefully the motor and trans can be saved and sold off.

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

I know it can't be fixed.. It is totaled Like I said yesteday. It makes me cry to see it like that. I told Ed today he was gonna cry too.

At this point I'm considering the possibility of taking it home and parting it out on craigslist or Ebay. If I don't get a decent value from the Insurance company.

I know the hatch is good.. rear bumper .. rear lights... rims.. Engine and Tranny possiblly intact.. Rear end assembly .. and maybe some interior pieces..

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

well keep us updated man as to the progress.

if you need any help please reach out!!!!

Damn....sorry to hear that Joe (and Johnny).

I dunno.....I think a good wax and a little elbow grease and she'll be looking good again in no time! That spot can be buffed out.

Leave it at Eric's and maybe it will be done when Brock gets his license!!!!!

Posted by: Ruzman

Oh my God Joe!!!! I am so sorry for Johnny . As everyone else said thank God neither of them were injured! I'm sorry I'm so late reading this and posting. Johnny, don't worry brother you'll be behind the wheel of another Stang before you know it. Cars are replaceable...people are not and with that said I'm grateful that with all the damage to the Stang that you and Brock are fine. My heart goes out to you man. If I can help in any way let me know.

Glad no one was hurt. Sorry to hear about the 5.0L, Joe and Johnny. The car still has alot of mint parts, like the interior, sheet metal and the hatch (those always rust out above the taillights.) Get some good money for those parts. Hopefully the insurance company will sell it back to you.

Posted by: Capriman86

OMG you guys must be heart broke.
So glad to hear nobody got hurt.

Sorry guys....Im sure its tough to look at her.

Posted by: Dark_Cobra

Yeah.. It's tough to look at

Posted by: TorchRedSVT

oh my god, so sorry to see taht but thankfully no one got hurt. Your family should count thier blessings..that's a lot of damage to walk away from.

As mentioned Joe..there's alot on that car that can be salvaged...you'll definitly want to buy it back.

You know... you could grab the fox off Scarecrow (if he still has it) and transfer everything over.Just a thought..

Posted by: dustindu4

or just put it in yours!

Posted by: Mustang5L5

All that stuff could EASILY be transferred into a nice low-milage 2.3L Coupe.

Might take the summer, but it could be done.

I am glad everyone is ok.

Posted by: bullitt5177

Wow, that hurts to look at, but I'm glad to hear Brock and Johnny are okay. That's a hell of a crash to walk away from. I say you swap the drivetrain into that 86 Ian posted.
