Posted by: bullitt5177 Cool. I typically hear bad things about the 3.8s. It's nice to hear something good. Posted by: badass98svt Quote:

So isn't that a contradiction???
Posted by: kissajew86 meh it may go on for a lot longer, just after beating on it so much and having a 4.2 in the garage that i can rebuild and put in there, i may do that it would make me feel more comfortable with reliability and the extra power would not be unwelcome ![]() i just got to thinking about all the things i had done to it and came up with the list and thought i would share Posted by: ExBamaGal So you do have a 4.2 already? Posted by: kissajew86 i have had a 4.2 since i got the turbo, it has a spun bearing....needs to be rebuilt.....just need to put the money into it to get the spare engine all fixed up untill then i have my 3.8 running, at this point i think i have fixed all the kinks except the leaking main seals which after sitting dormant for 2 years that is kind of normal..... Posted by: ExBamaGal What the hell are you waiting for! Get off your butt and get that thing in!
Posted by: kissajew86 i might get it in if you were on aim to direct me on what to buy?!?!?1 i dono, i am talking to rpm-mustangs trying to see what they think i need to get to build it up right.... Posted by: ExBamaGal lol...can't get AIM at work so I guess it'll have to wait I can get yahoo messenger though
Posted by: Xerxeese Super Six Motorsports can also help you, Tom Morana racing as well. I am on 3.8 mustangs.com as well as v6power.net. Less Drama on V6power. Some good info too. What do you need to know? I have a 4.2 going into mine and have done quite the amount of reasearch to get it done. Posted by: kissajew86 Quote:
there is a good read on v6power.net on what i have to use from the 4.2 engine to get it to work, i was going to go off that. rpm has been a good guy to work with, i have gotten all my engine stuff from him, i will prob get all the machine work done here locally then buy heads and cam from him, i am shooting for about 250 rwhp with heads cam, home p&p upper and lower, imrc removed, half shafted throttle body, high flow cats with x pipe and borla mufflers, ud pullies, roller rockers and course a good tune if i can get the machine work and heads and cam for under about 2 grand i would be happy couse i could get a used supercharger kit for like 1300, and keep the old engine and make 300 rwhp....humm.... Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 further testament to Ford reliability, though on a less dramatic scale lol........my girls 95 3.8L mustang ran 3,000 miles with 5 of the 6 head gasket bores blown. This was when I owned the car and didn't have the money right away to replace the head gaskets------when they finally were replaced, the heads didn't even have to be milled, no warpage, nothing. that was at 106,000 miles----she now has 164,000 on the clock. in other news, my 95 Cobra has 158,000 miles; my 87 GT has 132,000 and my 96 Mystic Cobra has 144,000. I think the Cobras are still running on borrowed time with their original timing chains. Posted by: LILBLKSNAKE Quote:

Posted by: kissajew86 wpre-99 cars had head gasket issues, but post 99 they used a very high quality head gasket, and even people running high boost on high inpout engines use the stock head gasket, it is very tough!!!! 3 layer metal gasket if i remember right.... Posted by: 95Cobraman1024 the 94/95 engines specifically had the problem of blowing head gaskets; it was the head bolt holes being drilled in such a spot that the head bolts weren't providing enough clamping force to hold the heads onto the block. the Windstar minivan and SuperCoupe T-birds had this problem also being that they also used the exact same engine as the mustang (except for the special upper/lower intake for the Windstar and the SuperCoupe specific cylinder heads).
