i am looking to replace all 4 tires on my mustang

original size is 245/45/ZR17 however i am looking for a more meatier tire that will be able to fill in some of the gap in the fender without overdoing it. what would u guys recommend?

You don't want to mount a tire that's going to be bigger diameter on the same rims. It'd be like a truck! Get some lowering springs -- like Ford "C" springs -- they'll give you about 1.5" of drop for pretty reasonable money. Then the stock tires will look fine. You can go wider on the stock rims -- I think most people go up to about 265 with no fitment problems.
Look at my "garage" pictures if you want to see what the C springs do for looks. You should be able to figure out which are before and after...

Some 25 or 30mm wheel spacers (for the rear only with stock 7" rim)
will help fill that gap right up! This is the best way to not try to jam
tires that are to wide on the factory rims.....

stock wheels are 8"

You don't want larger diameter, it will lift the car up and lok funny.

You can go wider, although it's not recommended. A lot of guys run 275/40/17's on stock 17x8 bullitts. You may get a little sidewall flex depending on the tire, but it looks badass. I was going to do it but found a great deal on tires that were stock size.

1" wheel spacers out back will fill out the rear. Get H&R spacers from maximum motorsports. They are the only ones i would trust

275/45/ZR17 good?

Nope, they will be an inch taller.

You want 275/40/17's
