Is there much hp increase compared between the 2 setups, or is it just eye candy under the hood? Thanks! Posted by: langod There's almost no HP difference. If you don't care about the look -- just get the K&N drop-in. I put the K&N FIPK II on my car and was able to dyno before and after. If I remember, it was 2 hp. Posted by: ExBamaGal Ha! I have the MAC CAI chrome tubing WITH the K&N filter lol You really can't tell a difference though, other than the occasional whistle
Posted by: badass98svt The K&N drop-in as Langod said, is damn near the same HP gain as a CAI. Maybe a 1 or 2 HP difference. Try to stay away from the Metal/chrome CAI's. The metal under the hood heats up like crazy, causing your COLD air intake to become a HOT air intake. If you decide to go with a CAI, www.jlttruecoldair.com makes a couple very nice setups, as well as www.wmsracing.com http://www.wmsracing.com/pgi-ProductSpec?WMS-VET96MCER The pic isn't working on that link, but it's basically the same as this. http://www.wmsracing.com/pgi-ProductSpec?WMS-VET96CCER You can also buy the lower piece, that puts the filter in the fender. http://www.wmsracing.com/pgi-ProductSpec?WMS-VEL96MCER Yes, these pieces ARE metal, but they are ceramic coated, which helps keep things cool. Here's a pic of the WMS piece on my car ![]() The JLT pieces you can have painted to match your cars color. http://jlttruecoldair.com/zencart/in...products_id=79 http://jlttruecoldair.com/zencart/in...products_id=80 Feel free to PM me if ya want -P.J.- Posted by: KrazyPony Thanks man, I had a denscharger that was in the fenderwell years ago in my lil ole 98 v6, and also had the most commonly MAC CAI as Tiff mentioned above and got more of a whistle out of it than anything, people thought I had a S/C located in my fender *L*, which basically drove me nutz, so just getting some ideas here... Yeah I was liking the JLT CAI when I was looking around yesterday, rather pricey from what I saw, close to $180-190. I was thinking of getting one of the JLT setups, and have it painted the same color as my car of RedFire/Burgandy, and maybe have some foose like flames from the fender area to midway of the pipe...would really be different ![]() Thanks for the info, will check them out for sure! BTW: The exhaust is on and sounds great P.J., Thanks! Posted by: Qcodegt you want the one that goes in the fender or you are just sucking hot air from the engine compartment, Posted by: langod Quote:
Besides, I preferred the look of the K&N inside the engine compartmnet. Posted by: badass98svt Quote:
