For those of you that live eat sleep Nascar and are Jr fans, you probably feel as though (including myself) that this is a tough one to take.

I said it to a friend of mine last night and I laughed when a reporter marked my words during the press conferance today.

Hendrick motorsports has become the Yankees of Nascar. It feels like they took a Red Sox team member.

Not a big fan of Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson, sould be an interesting fan reaction during driver introductions.

None the less Dale's a great driver,I hope he can keep both the #8 and Bud sponsor,he said those negotiations were still taking place.

I predict he won't keep the 8 but will keep the Bud sponsorship.
It'll be weird seeing a red #5 or 25 running around the tracks next year.
Can you imagine next years Daytona race? Holy crap. I think Rick Hendrick is gonna have to make the call to pick who wins -- cause they'll all be at the front probably.

Maybe Dale will teach Gordon and Johnson how to lose like men and not whine about every goddam thing that happens on the track.

And good riddance to Kyle. Lotsa talent in that boy, but WAY too much baggage.

I'm sure Rick is glad to cut that loose, that boy tears up allot of equipment.

This is something I don't care about NASCAR anymore. I miss the days when the racing teams were the driver and his friends. Now the driver drives for someone with a big checkbook and that "owner" and his company or corporation is the real entity rather than the driver, who is just a paid employee.

I remember when Cale Yarborough won the race...........HE won the race, not some "owner". Where have all the racers gone.

Every week the show "Back in the Day" gets more and more entertaining. Seeing cars that look just like the ones you bought racing around the track has such a significatnly different feel than the "sterile" fabricated generic race cars of today.

All right, all right, I'm taking my cane and getting out of here......

Steve, That's a great show. Know what's pretty sad,Kyle was on T.V the other day and he said he'd like to be competative in the sport but Petty Enterprises is a small shop.

That statement in itself is pretty sad.Petty is the King of Nascar, how that hell could he let his operation slip through the financial cracks?

I think their last hope was with Adam, the kid had the heart for tha sport like his grand father,he really love to drive.

True, it is sad. But that's the direction almost all motors sports have evolved in. There are no small teams in F1 -- it's all Ferrari or Mercedes-McLaren. In WRC it's Subaru, Ford, etc.

There's just no way to build a championship team in auto racing without millions of dollars in backing.

In NASCAR, I miss the ability to go to a dealership and look at, drool over and maybe buy the same cars that are being raced. Dale's Monet Carlo is not a front-wheel-drive V6. Kenseth doesn't drive a V6 Ford Fusion.

But Richard Petty's Daytona WAS in the dealerships, and the one you could buy wasn't TOO different from the one on the track. Hell, even the NASCAR T-birds and Monte's of the 80s were closer to what were in the dealerships than the generic NASCAR-molded cars they race today. I will point and laugh when Toyota comes out with a NASCAR edition Camry.
