I have a 87 Mustang that i built the engine in and when i get on it and turn high rpms the fins on the fan get pushed out and into my belt and its chewing up my belt. The alt is pretty new and i have no problems with it so can i just get a fan for it that is stronger? Any help would be great.

Is this the stock fan or did someone put a Flex fan on the car. If it is the stock fan then more than likely the blades are cracked at the center and if it flexing that much it won't be long till the blades break off and destroy some engine or body parts.

Convert to a 3G or 6G alt....problem solved and you get 130A of power

What he said

No need to buy a new alternator, especially if the one you have is pretty much new.

Guys i think he's talking about the little fan on the alternator pulley...not the engine fan

WTF?
Then just bend the little blades out a hair or so.

I did that and it seems to work but i was just wondering if there would be something else that i could try if i need too.
