My wife wants me to machine one for her '66 Mustang but I have not been able to get my hands on another piece of scrap aluminum diamond plate, so I tried my hand at designing a sign that I will get printed at Kinkos or some place like that. It is the color that it is so that it will contrast correctly in front of her car and also attract attention. If you remember her car is Prowler Purple Metallic. This pic is not as sharp as the original because this is a .jpg . What do you think? Steve Posted by: badass98svt Looks great! I'd remove the grass area from the second pic though. Nice job Posted by: Aussie XAXB Quote:
I agree.....I think it would be better wihout the grass. Steve Posted by: Aussie XAXB Eh....I'll see what the wife thinks. It's her car. If the grass is removed from the foreground will the grass through the windows look ok????? Steve Posted by: Ozz Looks cool! I make and print one each time I do a major modification too, LOL. I am due for an update for sure.... Anyway, I think if you blend the grass on the bottom pic, and the rest of the car that's currently chopped off from the upper pic, it'll look much smoother overall. If you're using Photoshop, change the lasso threshold to somewhere between 15-25 and that should do it (or whatever is equal to that in whichever program you may be using) Posted by: badass98svt Quote:
I didn't even notice the windows. I guess you could always take some new pics. if yer gonna do make sure you and the wife are happy with it. You know what I'm sayin'?
Posted by: StangChick Looks good, a suggestion I have is to change the text color or add a white outline. Its kinda hard to read being so close to the background color. But that's just my opinion everyone has one just like assholes. If theres anything I can do to help just let me know Posted by: Aussie XAXB Thanks for the input everyone. It's really appreciated. There is a black shadow behind the letters. I did that to make the letters stand out some. Again, this .jpg loses some detail. The letters do stand out better in the .bmp . Also when this thing is made it will be MUCH easier to read due to the size. I removed the grass, and the wife agreed, that needed to be done. I don't have photoshop, I have some cheapo program that came with a digital camera we bought years ago. It's not bad and you don't need a LOT of training on it. I am sure Photoshop would make a lot of doing this easier but I don't have the time to put into learning it. Thanks again everyone, Steve Posted by: langod I agree with Stangchick -- needs white or some other light colored text. Posted by: Aussie XAXB Ok, that's two for a white shadow. I'll have to try a version that way and see what it looks like. Thanks, Steve Posted by: Rick Sample It looks great! I also agree with a white border of 1px around the out side of your text... kind of like what we did with our MCRParts.com logo at the top of this website. It makes it stand out so much better
Posted by: Aussie XAXB I started doing the white behind the lettering, but as I mentioned I don't have photoshop, so doing so is a BIG undertaking. I got part of a paragraph done and didn't like it. I ended up getting my original design made into a sign. Full sized it looks great! I'll take a picture tomorrow. The contrast is better and the letters stand out just fine against the background. Thanks for everyone's input. The white was just looking out of place on the sign though. Steve Posted by: ExBamaGal Looks good!!! Love the coloring! Posted by: Aussie XAXB Ok, here's the finished sign. The pic of it REALLY sucks. It is hard to capture the amount of color it has, plus contrast, plus sharpness, without just getting a reflection of myself in it. I had to play with the image to get it this good. Also this is a .jpg so image quality suffers even more. You'll just have to come out and see the sign in person. My wife is very happy with it. The image of the car on the sign doesn't really look like that along the side of the car.Steve Posted by: Rick Sample Not to bad... I think it looks great! Posted by: Aussie XAXB Thanks. I just wish the picture could do it justice. I'll take more pics while we are at Carlisle next weekend. Steve Posted by: badass98svt Tony (MCRParts) will be there as well, along with Carol(AwwYea). PM them if you'd like to finally put a face with the name/personality. -P.J.- Posted by: Aussie XAXB Yeah, I'd like to meet people from the board. I'd also like to be able to get the Mustang to the show!! I pick up the master cylinder from the polisher on Tuesday, install it, bend the stainless steel lines to connect it to the combination valve, fill the system and pray there are no leaks, and then get the car aligned on Wednesday (I rebuilt the front suspension and added Granada disc brakes) and then head to PA on Thursday. This is down to the wire to get the car finished and driveable to PA. Steve Posted by: awwyea Quote:
Posted by: UltraMustang I think it looks amazing and I'm sure it looks great in person Posted by: Aussie XAXB THanks everyone. Try as I did I did not get the car done in time for Carlisle. I am working on it more today. I am really pissed I didn't make it.Steve Ford Mustang Archive Home | General Tech | 5.0 Mustang Tech | 4.6 Mustang Tech | 3.8 Mustang Tech | 2.3 Mustang Tech | Classic Mustang Tech | Appearance and Sound | Virtual Body Shop | Initiation | The Lounge | The Showroom | Site Suggestions | Mustang Talk | 2005 Ford Mustang | Ford Lightning | Racers Bench | For Sale | Wanted To Buy | Northeast | SouthEast | Central | MidWest | West Coast | NEBOC
