Posted by: Qcodegt if it was me i would build a 331 stroker with afr heads you can use the 289 blok but i would get a late model 302 block already set up for the roller cam the prblem with the early mustang is the shock towers get in the way making bigger motors like a 351w a tight fit any other ford motor you have to modify the shock towers to make them fit, Posted by: MCRPARTS If the motor is still strong and runs good, you could always add a blower. Here is a link to them in our store.Just another option you may have not thought of. http://www.mcrparts.com/shop/Paxton-...-1-c-1632.html Posted by: Aussie XAXB The 289 is an excellent engine. They rev really well. They can also be made into screamers depending on what you want in an engine. As mentioned supercharging is a way to go. I put a retro-fit roller cam into a 1968 302 with no problems. Pretty simple. You can fit a 351W into a 1965 Mustang without modifying the shock towers. You will need special headers and they are available. Here is an article on how to do it by a very well respected Ford guy, Dan Jones...... http://www.mustangsandmore.com/ubb/D...ngineSwap.html You can also go the stroker route. You have a lot of options.
