Posted by: Mustang5L5 Limited slip worn?? Mine spins both on the rare occasions i spin the tires through 1st Posted by: bullitt5177 Could be worn clutch packs in the diff, but more than likely just a fluke. It's happened to me once, and I've seen it happen to a few other people. Nothing you're doing wrong, Ford Trac-Locs just don't engage quick enough sometimes I guess. Posted by: ponycrazy2002 well i drove a friends of mine 2004 gt and it felt so much easier....like mine feels heavier when i push the gas...his wheels were spinning like crazy Posted by: Pony-Up Not a posi rear end? Posted by: ponycrazy2002 it is a posi i know that for sure...cuz all the gt's come with that...like sometimes around turns the other 1 will activate too and at high speeds i feel it sometimes...but idk maybe its time for a new one...who knows.... Posted by: speedytang If your disc brake drags any that is enough for it to do a one wheel peel. Posted by: KartRacer39 Quote:
Posted by: KartRacer39 here is a link to FRPP parts for your repair. http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=6942 Posted by: KartRacer39 This link is for the stock rebuild kit and includes everything you need for the rebuild http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=5105 Posted by: ponycrazy2002 if i do buy the above specified how hard would it be to do it myself and the help of my dad and what is the likeliness of it happening again? is that why it feels heavy cuz of the one wheel pushing the car?
Posted by: KartRacer39 If neither of you have ever had one apart I would NOT recommend taking this repair on. I would suggest a good local Mechanic that you trust to do it. Likely a couple hours labor is all. Good luck either way. Posted by: ponycrazy2002 so if i buy those and have them replaced both of my wheels will be spinning? Posted by: awwyea They should if that is indeed the culprit, which it sounds like it is. My 99 GT had the intermittent one leg issue. Mostly at the track though...that's partly why it was sold. Posted by: Mustang5L5 That is why i don't do burnouts. No burnouts = happy limited slip. Posted by: AsianStanger All I can do is spin my tires. By the end of the season, the only thing left on them will be just the belts. Posted by: bullitt5177 No worries Johnny. You're just chirping them, they'll be perfectly fine!!
Posted by: ponycrazy2002 so thats why it feels heavy when i press the gas? Posted by: KartRacer39 This heavy feeling you express could be brake related as well. I would recommend taking a look at the rear brakes as well before going into the Rear end assembly. Posted by: Mustang5L5 You could have a rear caliper sticking. The slide pins tend to seize very easily on these cars. Doe your car roll easily in nuetral? Check to see that the rear pads have even wear and that one pad doesn't wear more thaN the other which is a sign of sticking. Posted by: ponycrazy2002 Quote:
it rolls pretty easy in neutral depending on the surface level Posted by: KartRacer39 Jack the rear off the Ground with the car in Neutral and front wheels Chocked of course and turn the tires by hand and feel for any un-wanted drag or noise. I would pull the rear wheels off after and inspect the brakes anyway since it's airborne. Good luck and let us know what you may or may not find. Posted by: Qcodegt its loose clutch packs needs rebuid when you rebuild or have someone else do have a extra 001 shim installed it tightens the pack up and it will spin both tires hard all the time, next time you do a burnout and both tires hit see if one patch is lighter than the other one this is a sign that the traction lock is loose, after 1985 ford assembled them a little loose because of to many low perf drivers doing burn outs with the wheels turned and crashing Posted by: cliffyk You can also replace the frictions and steels in alternate sequences, and use less than the recommended 3.8 oz. of friction modifier (try 2.5 oz.)--both of these "tricks" will increase the lock-up...
