My dad brought home this 2001 Tan Ford F-150 Supercab and I loved it. The only thing was that it wasn't a 4X4 and I don't want to spend thousands more for an F150 4X4. The ranger is a cheaper truck and I can afford the 4X4 version. So the F150 2WD and the Ford Ranger 4X4 would cost around the same. The Ford Ranger 2WD would cost around $2,000 less. Anyhow... here's the truck my dad brought home tonight: ![]() Here is the type of Ford Ranger 4X4 I'm looking for: ![]() Or I can settle for a little bit cheaper version of the Ford ranger... just a 2wd...

Posted by: Rick Sample Yep I want a 4X4, but I loved this F150 my dad brought home tonight. It was $11,500. A 4wd version would probably cost at least $15,000-$17,000 and I'm not spending that kind of money lol. The F150 above and the Yellow 4X4 ford ranger below it are both $11,500. The 2wd ranger under both of those two trucks are $9,900. I really didn't want to spend a dime over $10,000 on a car lol. Posted by: kissajew86 f150 will have a better resell value Posted by: langod The Ranger 4x4 will get you around better in the snow, but for the rest of the year -- unless you're interested in going off-roading -- the F-150 will be far more useful and comfortable. I've had a couple of full-size 2 wheel-drive pickups and managed to get around OK in New England winters. It's not great, but as long as you're careful and use common sense you'll get where you want to go. Putting a dozen cinderblocks in the back and equipping it with some all-terrain tires helps a bit too. Posted by: Jarhead46 If you dont need a bigger truck like the F150 then you might as well get a 4x4 Ranger, plus it will be a little better on gas. Posted by: Pony-Up Both seem like reasonable choices to me. The Ranger may be better on fuel but is much smaller inside. The F150 is proven to be a good truck - 2 or 4 wheel drive. I've owned several Ford pickups (all 4x4) and have had nothing but good luck. I have a F350 V10 Superduty. Overkill but fun to drive when I can't drive a Mustang!
Posted by: Rick Sample I think I'm going to stick with the Ranger 4X4 only because the road we're having our house built on is out in the country... it could get messy in the winter.
